Terms of Service

Last updated 5 October 2026

These are the rules for using Samanvaya, in plain language. The short version: be honest, be kind, keep contact details private until you know each other, and never send money.

Samanvaya is still being prepared for its public launch. This text is complete and in plain language, and a lawyer will review it before launch. If it changes in a way that matters, we will tell you.

1.About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Samanvaya (“we”, “us”). They apply when you create an account or use our website and services (together, “Samanvaya”).

Samanvaya is a private matrimonial introduction service. We help adults who are looking for marriage find each other, and we give them tools to get to know each other safely. We do not arrange marriages, we do not promise that you will find a match, and we are not a party to anything that happens between members.

By creating an account you confirm that you have read these terms and our Privacy Policy and that you accept them. If you do not, please do not use Samanvaya.

2.Who can use Samanvaya

You may use Samanvaya only if all of these are true:

  • You are at least 18 years old and old enough to marry under the law that applies to you.
  • You are looking for marriage, not for friendship, dating for its own sake, or anything commercial.
  • You are not barred from using the service, for example because we have removed your account before.
  • You have one account. Please do not create duplicate or shared accounts.

You must give a true date of birth. If it shows that you are under 18, we remove the registration and everything with it.

Profiles created for someone else. A parent, sibling, relative or friend may help an adult create a profile only if that adult has agreed. You confirm this when you start. The person the profile is about must be involved before anyone is contacted, and we may ask them to confirm. A profile must never be created for a person who has not agreed.

3.Your account

You can sign up with an email address and password, or with Google. You must verify your email before you can submit your profile.

Choose a strong password (at least 12 characters, not common or leaked), keep it private, and tell us quickly if you think someone else has used your account. We strongly encourage you to turn on two-step sign-in and add a passkey in Settings. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You can sign out of every device from Settings.

4.Your profile: what you share and who sees it

Your profile must be true, current and about you. You must not mislead anyone about your age, marital status, children, religion, caste, education, job, income, family, location or photographs. Fields marked required must be filled in before you can submit your profile.

Seen by every approved member: your first name and the first letter of your last name, age, city, state and country, hometown, citizenship, height, marital status, children and plans for children, diet, smoking and alcohol habits, religion, community and caste, mother tongue and languages, education, degree, field of study and university, job title, employer and work location, employment, annual income range, interests, what you wrote about yourself, your prompt answers, your marriage plans and what you are looking for, your first two (profile) photos, and whether a social profile is linked. Your residence status is shown if you chose to share it.

Seen only by people whose interest you accept: your parents’ names and occupations and other family details. Gotra, nakshatra, rashi, time and place of birth and horoscope details follow the choice you make on the Faith and culture step.

Never shown to any member, even after you connect: your email address, phone numbers, WhatsApp number, contact notes and social media links. Only our verification team can see them, to confirm you are a real person and to reach you about your account.

Photos. At least two photos are required. They must clearly show you, be recent, and be photos you have the right to use. No photos of children, other people as your own, nudity, or anything offensive. Your first two photos are your profile photos and cannot be hidden. You may add more, and any photo after the first two can be hidden from other members. A person reviews each photo before it is shown.

Details you cannot change yourself. To keep every profile trustworthy, your name, date of birth, gender, who the profile is for, religion and caste are locked once you have given them. If one is wrong or your circumstances change, send a request from Settings, then Contact us. We may ask for proof, such as an official ID, before we change it. We keep these locked so that nobody can quietly rewrite who they are after people have started to trust the profile.

5.Review and approval

A person on our team reviews every profile and photo before other members can see it. We review again when you change key text such as your “about” or “what you are looking for”. We may approve, ask you to make changes, or decline a profile, and we will tell you why when we ask for changes.

A “verified” mark means our team has checked something about you, as the mark describes. Approval and verification are not a guarantee that a profile is accurate, and you should still take care.

6.Interests, messages and how to behave

You can send an interest to an approved member. If they accept, you can message each other. Either of you can stop at any time, block, or report.

Messages are for getting to know each other. To keep contact details off the platform until people know each other well, on the Free plan messages may contain only letters and the marks . , ? ! and must not contain numbers (digits, or numbers written as words, in any language), links, email addresses, or social media names or IDs (such as Instagram, Snapchat or WhatsApp). Members on Premium may also include numbers, links, addresses and social media names, and the characters that go with them. For every member, on every plan, messages must not contain abusive, sexual or hateful language. These rules are applied automatically, and a message that breaks them cannot be sent. Please do not try to get around them.

Sharing numbers, links and names. A Premium member who shares a phone number, link or social media name in a message does so at their own choice and risk, and you open any link at your own risk. Samanvaya does not verify the people you talk to, and Premium is not a mark of trust, and does not mean a member has been verified. Share contact details only when you are comfortable, and never send money to anyone you have not met and verified. We may remove the ability to send numbers, suspend an account, or end a Premium plan without a refund if numbers, links or names are used to scam, pressure, harass or spam anyone.

You must not:

  • harass, threaten, pressure, shame or discriminate against anyone, including because of their caste, religion, community, appearance, income, family or marital history;
  • ask any member for money, gifts, loans, or financial details, or offer investments or business deals;
  • send sexual, violent or hateful content, or ask for such content;
  • impersonate anyone, use someone else’s photos, or run a fake or joke profile;
  • copy, scrape, collect or sell other members’ information, or use Samanvaya for marketing, recruiting or any commercial purpose;
  • share another member’s details or messages outside Samanvaya without their consent;
  • try to break, overload or get around the security, review or message rules; or
  • break the law.

Your partner preferences, including preferences about caste or religion, are tools for finding a good match for you. They are not a licence to demean anyone.

7.Matches and scores

We rank and explain suggested profiles using only the preferences you set, how much you said each one matters, and details members chose to share. A “must have” preference hides people who do not meet it. We also show how well you fit what the other person is looking for.

A match score is a guide, not a prediction. It says nothing about character or about whether two people will get along. Please look at the whole profile and use your own judgement.

8.Safety, reporting and enforcement

You can block or report any member at any time. Blocking is private: they are not told. Reports are read by our team, and the person reported is not told who reported them.

If we believe these terms have been broken, or that someone may be at risk, we may remove content, hide or suspend a profile, limit features, or close an account, with or without notice where that is needed to protect people. Where we can, we will explain why. If you think we got it wrong, send a request through Settings, then Contact us, and a person will look again.

If you are in danger, contact your local emergency services first. We are not an emergency service.

9.Fees

Samanvaya has a Free plan and an optional paid plan called Premium. Online payment is not switched on yet. When it is, we will show you the price, the length, what it includes and how to cancel before you pay, and we will never charge you without your clear agreement.

Extra interests. Any member can buy extra interests as a one-off payment. They never expire, work on both plans, and are used only after your regular allowance has run out. They are added once Stripe confirms the payment. If a payment is refunded, the extra interests from it that are left are taken back. Extra interests cannot be transferred or exchanged for money.

What Premium adds. 10 interests a day instead of 5 a week on the Free plan (text chat after an interest is accepted is unlimited on both plans, subject to our anti-spam limits), the full lists of who visited you and who shortlisted you, filtering by recent activity, a small boost among matches that already fit you well (it never changes your match percentage), the full horoscope breakdown, natural-language search, conversation starters, more saved searches, an intro message in your own words (Free members can send a ready-made note with an interest, and Premium members can also write their own), Chat Plus (emoji, numbers, links and social media names in messages), private browsing, up to two 24-hour profile boosts a week, a printable biodata, horoscope chart upload, a family view link, and a Premium badge. The exact list is shown on the Premium page and may change. We will not remove a feature from a plan you have already paid for during the period you paid for.

What stays free for everyone. Creating and verifying a profile, browsing matches and seeing match scores, messaging once an interest is accepted, and every safety tool: reporting, blocking, profile review and verification. Verified is never for sale, and Premium does not mean that a member has been verified or can be trusted more.

Length and ending. Premium lasts for the period you choose and ends on its end date. It does not renew by itself. When it ends, your account returns to the Free plan, and features that depend on Premium stop working (for example, you can no longer include numbers, links or social media names in new messages), but your profile, your connections and your earlier messages stay as they were. You can ask us to cancel at any time from Settings.

Misuse. We may end a Premium plan, and may refuse a refund, if it is used to scam, pressure, harass or spam anyone, to get around our safety rules, or in breach of these terms. Refunds and cancellation details will be set out here and at checkout before payment is switched on.

Existing free features will not suddenly become paid without notice.

10.Your content and our licence

You keep ownership of what you put on Samanvaya. You give us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store it, process it, review it, and show it to other members as described in these terms and your settings, only so that we can run the service. The licence ends when your content is deleted, except for copies we need to keep for a short time for safety, legal or backup reasons.

You promise that you have the right to share what you upload, including photos and information about your family, and that it does not break anyone’s rights. Samanvaya’s name, design and software belong to us.

11.Hiding, leaving and closing your account

You can hide your profile at any time from Settings. Hiding removes you from other members’ discovery, and existing conversations stay available.

To close your account, send a request from Settings, then Contact us. A person on our team closes accounts, rather than closing them instantly, so that a mistake can be put right first. When your account is closed, we delete your profile, photos, interests, shortlists, messages and contact details as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue after an account ends (such as limits on our liability) will continue.

12.What we do not promise

We work hard to make Samanvaya safe and reliable, but we cannot promise it will always be available, error-free or free from misuse. Members write their own profiles. We check some things, but we cannot check everything, and we cannot know what anyone intends.

You are responsible for your own decisions, including whom you talk to, what you share, and whether and how you meet. Please read the Safety Center. Never send money to someone you have met through Samanvaya.

To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for what members say or do, for losses that were not a foreseeable result of our breach, or for indirect or business losses. Our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (and is zero while the service is free). Nothing in these terms limits any right or liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

13.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add features or when the law changes. We will change the “last updated” date above, and tell you in the service or by email when a change matters. If you keep using Samanvaya after a change takes effect, you accept it. If you do not agree, you can close your account.

14.Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. If we cannot settle a disagreement by talking, the courts in India with jurisdiction over our registered office will decide it, unless the law gives you the right to go elsewhere.

Please contact us first. Most problems can be sorted out quickly by a person.

15.Contact us

Members can write to us through Settings, then Contact us, where a person on our team reads every request.
