Safety and trust

Take your time. Ask questions. Stay in control. Here is what we do, and what you can do.

What we do

Warning signs of a scam

  • Asks for money, gifts, a loan, or help with a visa, a hospital bill or an investment. Nobody on Samanvaya will ever ask you to send money.
  • Wants to move to another app, or asks for your number, quickly. Pressure to hurry is a warning sign.
  • Photos look too perfect, or their story changes. Ask to speak on a video call before you trust anyone.
  • Says they cannot meet or call because they are abroad, deployed, or on an oil rig, and then asks for help.
  • Asks for documents, bank details, one-time codes or passwords.
  • Sends sexual or threatening messages, or makes you feel uncomfortable.

What you can do

  • Verify before you trust. Ask questions, take your time, and talk to family and friends you trust.
  • Keep financial information, ID documents and one-time codes private.
  • Use Samanvaya messaging at first, and be careful before you move to other apps.
  • Have a video call before meeting in person.
  • When you decide to meet, choose a public place, tell someone you trust where you are going, and arrange your own travel.
  • Report anything that feels wrong. You do not have to be sure.

How to report

Open the member’s profile after signing in, choose Report this profile, and tell us what happened. A person reads every report, and the member is never told who reported them. If you are in danger, contact your local emergency services first.
