Questions and answers
Straight answers about privacy, safety and how Samanvaya works. Something missing? Members can ask us from Settings, then Contact us.
Is Samanvaya free?
Yes, creating a profile, browsing matches and chatting are free today. If we ever add paid plans, we will show you the price and what is included before you pay, and we will never charge you without your clear agreement.
Who can join?
Adults aged 18 and over who are looking for marriage, and who are old enough to marry under the law that applies to them. A parent or relative can help create a profile, but only for an adult who has agreed to it.
Who can see my profile?
Only approved Samanvaya members. Nothing is public, and search engines cannot find profiles. A person on our team reviews every profile and photo before anyone else can see it.
What do other members see about me?
Your first name and last initial, age, city, height, marital status, religion, caste, education, job and income range, what you wrote about yourself, and your first two photos. Your parents’ details appear only to people whose interest you accept. Your email, phone numbers and social links are never shown to any member.
Can I hide my photos?
Your first two photos are your profile photos, so every approved member can see them. Any photo after those can be hidden. You can also hide your whole profile at any time from Settings.
Why can I not change my name, date of birth or caste?
So that nobody can quietly rewrite who they are after people have started to trust a profile. These details are locked once given. If one is wrong, send a request from Settings, then Contact us, and our team will correct it, sometimes after checking an ID.
What can I write in chat?
On the Free plan, messages can contain letters and . , ? ! only. No numbers (digits or words), links, email addresses or social media names, in any language. This keeps phone numbers and handles off the platform until you know each other well, which protects both of you from scams and pressure. Premium members can also include numbers, links, addresses and social media names, once they feel ready to share them. Abusive and sexual language is blocked for everyone.
Why are numbers, links and social names part of Premium?
These are what let people move a conversation off Samanvaya, so we keep them behind a paid plan, which also makes it harder to misuse the site. Abusive and sexual language stays blocked for everyone, and a request for money triggers a warning. If you receive a message with a number, link or social name, you are never obliged to reply or to share anything, never click a link you do not trust, and you can block or report the sender at any time.
How are matches chosen?
From the preferences you set and how much each one matters, such as age, religion, caste, language, education, location, lifestyle and plans for children. Every match shows the reasons in plain words, and also how well you fit what they are looking for. It is a guide, not a prediction.
How does horoscope matching work?
If you and the other person both add your nakshatra and rashi, their profile shows a traditional score out of 36 (guna milan), with each of the eight checks explained. 18 is the usual minimum. It is a guide, not a verdict, and families usually ask an astrologer too.
How do you keep my account secure?
Strong passwords are required, you can turn on two-step sign-in and sign in with a passkey (your fingerprint, face or screen lock), repeated guessing is blocked, and staff accounts must use two-step sign-in.
What if someone asks me for money?
Do not send it, and report the profile. Nobody on Samanvaya, including us, will ever ask you to send money to another member. Blocking is quiet: they are not told.
How do I delete my account?
From Settings, then Contact us, choose “Delete my account”. A person on our team closes it and removes your information, so that a mistake can be put right first.
Do you sell my information?
No. We do not sell it, rent it or show ads. You can read exactly what we collect and who sees it in the Privacy Policy.
